Omaha, NE -- A record turnout of nearly 40 Nebraska cyclists rolled into the Whole Foods in Omaha saturday evening to discuss 2010 racing, vote for officers and engage in a discussion that ranged from "Ride of the Year" format, improving the race experience, and growing the sport in our state.
Hosted by the Nebraska Cycling Association, the meeting was led by 2009 President, Ryan Feagan, who was elected to a second year without contest.

Thursday, 16 April 2009 |
By Bryan Redemske
Nebraska Rider of the Year coordinator
The new Nebraska Cycling Association formula for Rider of the Year points will debut this weekend at Le Tour de Husker in Lincoln.
The three-race weekend features a pair of criteriums -- one each on Saturday and Sunday -- and a team time trial on Sunday morning. Only the criteriums will award ROY points.
Three USCF races will be run on both days, concurrent with the collegiate schedule. They will be grouped as follows: Men's 1/2/3; Men's 4 and Women's 1/2/3; and Men's 5, Women's 4 and juniors.

Nebraska Rider of the Year Event Protocol & Points Calculation 2009 |
Wednesday, 08 April 2009 |
The purpose of the Nebraska Cycling Association’s Rider of Year program (ROY) is to recognize and reward consistent performance from area racers. Also, the Nebraska Cycling Association strives to provide Nebraska race promoters with guidelines & parameters to maximize field sizes, improve the racer’s experience, reward top performers, and generally make race hosting a simple & rewarding experience. For 2009, NCA is excited to offer a record TWELVE Rider of the Year awards to our most consistent and loyal performers. The following protocols, while by no means perfect, are directed towards all of these goals forthe 2009 racing season. |

Local Association Summit Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 Colorado Springs, Colo.
How to Run An Effective Board, Create Involvement And Raise Money Breakout Session No. 1 Presented by Steven J. Hansen, Illinois Cycling Association
Running an Association is not about the bike. It is about managing, organizing, creating, hosting, etc., It’s a wonder you have time to ride your bike at all. What does it takes to run an effective board? Leadership, management and organizational skills. In the leadership department, you need to be a good listener. You’ll hear the good and the bad. So it’s important to be patient (particularly when it comes to listening to complaints). Use team building to create an atmosphere that emphasizes delegating of responsibilities. As for management, you need excellent strategy planning, goal setting and strong follow-up. Your goals should be measurable. Perhaps it is increasing your membership. Make sure you are able to track and measure something adequately. |
